In Agora Music Collective's very first concert, pianists Ido Akov and Miikka Taipale explore the extended universes of baroque and late renaissance music and works inspired by this era. As an aperitif to the main work of the evening, Ido Akov performs music by British virginalist composers found in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, as well as contemporary composer Daniel Gorton’s “Farnabye’s Maske”, which takes its inspiration from multiple works by the virginalist Giles Farnaby. Following a short intermission, we hear one of the most central works of Johann Sebastian Bach – the Goldberg variations.
